a Home Management Journey Sign Ups

What is wrong with me?!?  My house stays dusty.  The laundry is a mile high on the couch.  I’ve washed the clothes in the washer twice!  The sink is overflowing with dirty dishes.  I’m drowning in paper piles!  There’s stickiness in places that should not be sticky.  Supper?  What can I throw together in 5 minutes before my husband gets home?

This whole homemaking thing should be a piece of cake considering I don’t have to pump water like Grandma did or ring the chicken’s neck and dress it.  (I can’t even cut up a store bought chicken!)  I have the luxuries of a refrigerator and freezer and stove and an automatic washer and dryer and a crock pot that I really should utilize more often and . . . .

Does this resonate with you?  I’m on a journey with Large Family Logistics.  It’s a comprehensive book on the art and science of managing a large family (although any size family would greatly benefit!).  I don’t know about you, but my home sure needs better management!

Kim Brenneman wonderfully ties Scripture and inspiration throughout her book.  There is no better way to manage a home than through the wisdom of God!

Please join me on this journey!

We will start Friday, April 21, 2017.  I’m estimating it should take us between 8 and 12 weeks to complete the book.  We can bless each other in each step of the way.

The book is out of print so you will need to locate a copy.  I found mine through a homeschool used curriculum Facebook group.  There’s many on Amazon.  There even may be a Kindle version!

a Color & Counting Wheel

This last week I've been researching correct pencil grip techniques for my poor Kindergartner who struggles immensely with holding his pencil correctly.  In so doing, I stumbled across not only techniques, but fine motor skill activities that aid in the development of hand muscles.  These muscles are necessary for correct pencil grip.

I chase A LOT of rabbit trails in research.  And I wound up researching Montessori homeschool curricula and activities.

So hence the inspiration behind my first ever busy bag/Montessori/fine motor skills project.  I feel so accomplished!
  • Opening clothes pins works out those hand muscles.
  • One side is a color matching wheel.
  • The other side is a number matching wheel.

And yes the green/#9 clothes pin is missing.   I left it on the table and was too lazy to retake my pictures.

a short obituary

"You shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”  Acts 1:8, NASB

If I were to die right now, my obituary would be short.  Sometimes this bothers me.  Like I'm not leaving a legacy for my children.  Like a list of accomplishments and involvement translates into such!

This is my season to say no!   I serve on no committees.  I am not involved with any civic organizations.  I do not volunteer my time or resources to the community.  I do not teach Sunday School.  Nor do I hold any offices within my church.

Instead - I serve my Lord.  My home, my family, is my calling, the organization that receives all my time and all my resources.  I teach my three littles who are five and two years old and eight months old.  And their every need and want is my office.

So, despite a potentially short obituary, a legacy IS being made.  I'm doing what God has called me to do, "I am a witness in my home, in La Grange, in Greene County, in North Carolina."  And God only knows what remote places of the earth these little hearts will go!

ALERT: New Younique Products

Can you believe its almost September?!?  School starting.  Getting organized and on routine again.  Little Jack (ahem, WD, he claims he isn't little any more) will be in Kindergarten! Ava is trying to keep up with him at 2 years old.  And Walt is a whopping 4 month old! Needless to say we are sorta organized and kinda on a routine. (Maybe I'll share some pictures with you in the next post!)
And then there's new makeup!
Mark your calendar for THIS Sunday, the 23rd, at 9 (ish....as soon as I can get the kids down ;) ) and join my FB group, Extreme MakeUp Bag Makeover-Younique Edition to see what exciting new products Younique will be introducing come September!  And I will be taking preorders from now until end of August!
And this will be a party!  So there will be games and prizes!  And one lucky person will receive the hostess rewards from this party!  Eek!  That's at least one 1/2 price item (which CAN be used on a COLLECTION!) and $20 Y cash!
